There is no doubt that the murder of Takeoff left an entire generation of fans engulfed in grief.

SHOCKING AND SADNESS immediately entered my being the morning of November 1, 2022 when I grabbed my phone and the first image I saw was a headline that Takeoff was dead. Even as I write this article I am covered in a aura of uneasiness. This is one of those celebrity death’s that will leave a scar on a generation.  For the generation they will always remember “Where they were?” and “What they were doing?” when they found out the news.

Kirnick “TakeOff” Ball 1/3 of the world famous rap group “MIGOS”.

Migos the superstar hip-hop group born, raised and discovered in Atlanta, Georgia. The group consisted of Quavo (real name Quavious Marshall), Takeoff (real name Kirsnick Ball) and Offset (real name Kiari Cephus). They rose to fame in 2013 following the arrival of their single “Versace” and when Drake hopped on the remix for the then unknown group it got the music world buzzing. The groups critically acclaimed trilogy album series “Culture 1,2 & 3” were all world wide successes. For nearly a decade the group gained levels of fame and success most only dream about.

It was truly a rollercoaster ride no one ever saw coming to such an abrupt end.

Summer and Fall of 2022 Quavo and Takeoff was in full promotion of their solo duo album “Only Built For Infinity Link”.  The album debuted in the top 10 of the Billboard album charts and was clearly on its way to becoming another platinum success for the band.

The full success of the album Takeoff unfortunately will live to see. On November 1, 2022, Takeoff was shot three times in the torso and head and was killed at 810 Billiards & Bowling in Houston, Texas.

He and about 40 people gathered outside the bowling alley after a private party ended there around 1:00 a.m. CDT, according to Houston’s KHOU-11 TV.

On November 11, Takeoff’s funeral was held at the State Farm Arena. Offset, Quavo, Cardi B, Gucci Mane,  Cee-Lo Green, Teyana Taylor and Drake were in attendance. While Justin Bieber, Yolanda Adams, and Chloe Bailey performed at the ceremony.

More than 20,000 people came to say goodbye to Takeoff. Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens posthumously presented Takeoff with the Phoenix Award.
